High tea in Brabant
The loveliest high tea in North Brabant
A high tea is more than tea with something nice to eat. It’s an afternoon to take your time together. And if you’re looking for a high tea in Brabant that’s truly different, you’ll end up in Oirschot. On Landgoed Bijstervelt, Brasserie Jacob van Bijstervelt serves the Golden High Tea: refined bites with a golden twist, on an estate that has been bringing people together since 1772. And on Sundays you take your seat in Kapel Montfort, beneath the stained-glass windows.

What makes a high tea special?
There are plenty of places in Brabant where you can have high tea. But when is a high tea truly special? For us it comes down to four things:
- The setting. Surroundings that carry you along, so the afternoon starts the moment you walk in.
- Homemade. Bites and pastries from our own kitchen, not a standard tiered stand.
- Attention. Staff who tell you what you’re tasting and think along with your wishes.
- Time. No rush, but an afternoon at a relaxed pace.
The Golden High Tea on Landgoed Bijstervelt brings all four together.
A high tea in a chapel
Take the setting: on Sundays we serve the Golden High Tea in Kapel Montfort, the 1910 chapel next to the brasserie. Tall stained-glass windows, coloured light on a white-laid table and the calm of a place with a long history. From Wednesday to Saturday you can enjoy the same high tea in the brasserie, looking out over the park and the estate’s centuries-old trees.
A castle atmosphere amid the greenery
Landgoed Bijstervelt was built in 1772 on the foundations of a medieval castle. The estate lies tucked away in the greenery, just outside the centre of Oirschot.
High tea at a castle in Brabant
Landgoed Bijstervelt is part of the Lievergoed Collectie, a family of historic venues in North Brabant. Fancy a different castle atmosphere some time? At Catharina van Maurick at Kasteel Maurick in Vught we also serve a high tea, in a more playful style. Two castles, two characters, each with its own story.
What you’ll taste
The Golden High Tea is all about pure flavours: local ingredients wherever possible, prepared with care in our own kitchen. We bake the pastries ourselves. And everything has that little golden touch Jacob is known for. Vegetarian, vegan or an allergy? Let us know when you book, and we’ll make sure your tiered stand is just as beautiful and delicious.

How the Golden High Tea unfolds
A high tea at Jacob is an afternoon in courses:
- A golden welcome. You start with a glass of bubbles (alcohol-free too) and a duo of vegetarian bites.
- A warm start. A small seasonal soup.
- The savoury tier. Refined savoury bites, made with local ingredients.
- The sweet tier. Homemade pastries, scones and sweet treats.
With it, we pour tea from a wide selection. The menu changes with the seasons, so if you come more often, there’s always something new to taste.
For every moment together
Our guests come for all sorts of reasons:
- A mother-and-daughter outing or a day with friends: an afternoon of catching up in a special setting
- Celebrating a birthday or anniversary: the chapel makes every celebration that bit more festive
- With the children: children up to and including 12 have a high tea of their own
- Simply getting away: because it’s Sunday, and you deserve a treat
Whatever the occasion, we welcome you with Brabant warmth and are happy to tell you the stories behind the estate and the dishes.

Make a day of it in Oirschot
Oirschot is one of the prettiest villages in Brabant. After your high tea it’s a short walk to the historic Markt, with its listed buildings and the imposing Sint-Petrusbasiliek. Or take a stroll around the estate’s park, past the centuries-old trees. That way an afternoon of high tea becomes a whole day out.
